اکبر جهانگیری، صافکار و نقاش ماشین ۳۶ سالهای اهل اصفهان، مردی متأهل و پدر یک دختر سه ساله بود. او در تاریخ ۲۰ دی ۱۴۰۴، همزمان با شب تولدش، در اصفهان و در جریان آنچه «انقلاب شیر و خورشید» توصیف شده است، کشته شد. این واقعه در پل سیوسهپل اصفهان رخ داد. گزارشها حاکی از آن است که اکبر جهانگیری با شلیک مستقیم مأموران جمهوری اسلامی به قتل رسید. وی ابتدا از ناحیه ران پا مورد اصابت گلوله قرار گرفته و سپس با شلیک تیر خلاص جان باخت.
